Close coordination
Hanoi French Hospital (HFH) implements a continuous and close coordination process between the Obstetrics and Pediatrics departments. This ensures comprehensive care from prenatal screening, support during delivery, to postnatal care, aimed at maximizing the safety and health development of both mother and baby.
During the management of pregnancy, whenever a high-risk factor that could affect fetal development is detected, the Obstetrician consults directly with the Pediatrician to develop an appropriate management plan.
Pediatricians also participate in prenatal classes alongside midwives and nurses to provide and advise expectant mothers on newborn care knowledge.
Before each delivery, the neonatal nursing team (which includes at least one nurse trained and experienced in clinical pediatrics) is always present on-site. They review all procedures and check the corresponding equipment to ensure everything is ready for use.
Depending on whether the mother has high-risk factors that could affect the fetus, the Pediatrician may be present on standby in the initial resuscitation room after delivery or always on call, ready to assist with the Obstetrician and Anesthesiologist in timely emergency care if any abnormal conditions arise during delivery.
After birth, all newborns are examined by the Pediatrician within the first 24 hours and throughout their hospital stay, with complete vaccinations administered according to the protocol.
If any abnormalities are detected, the baby will be examined multiple times depending on their health status and will be re-evaluated before discharge. The Pediatrician will directly advise and support parents to ensure they have the knowledge and confidence to care for their baby.
