WORLD HEPATITIS DAY 2022 - BRINGING HEPATITIS CARE CLOSER TO YOU

• Over 1 million deaths each year caused by Hepatitis B and C infections, accounting for over 95% of all hepatitis deaths worldwide.
• 10% of people who have hepatitis B virus are diagnosed, of which only 20% have received treatment.
• Less than half of children worldwide have access to the birth dose of the hepatitis B vaccine.

These are the statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the current status of hepatitis globally. Through these numbers, WHO wants to raise awareness of viral hepatitis, as well as encourage people to have liver health checkups, screen for liver infections such as hepatitis to prevent dangerous complications.

The World Hepatitis Day 2022 aims to highlight the necessity for bringing hepatitis care closer to the primary health facilities and communities. As the result, all patients get better care and minimize the risks caused by lack of early access to treatment.
